Q.2.  WHAT MOTIVATEDYOU FOR CREATING FIRIRI BRAND?

firiri was created to make people aware of the accelerated, competitive and aggressive pace of the fashion sector in today’s world, by inviting people to stop for a moment and think who, where and how did the clothes we wear have been made?

firiri is not only a fashion brand, it carries real life stories of passionate and hardworking people who make clothes and accessories, putting their skills, hearts, minds and souls, to bring a smile and happiness to people’s lives who wear it. And so, share the responsibility of creating a better world among all and for all.

It is from this idea that the brand was born, with the aim of sharing our ecological products, cultural values and tradition through fashion with west, building a cultural and social bridge between east and west. Our main values are coherence, Joyce and creativity through the love of nature and society; the people and the planet, the balance understood as co-responsibility, integrity, honesty and commitment.

firiri differentiation

Timeless clothes and complements: that evoke positivism and joy.

Fair trade: the price of firiri products are not fixed under the price quality parameters. If not it is fixed taking into account the needs of each person involved in the process so that the benefit for each of them is fair to have a decent life and allow the continuity of their activities.

We want to make sure that the people who make firiri clothes and complements can make a decent living with the utmost respect and human dignity in the workplace: that they can have a decent, full and happy life.

We want our clients to feel proud to support those who put heart, mind and soul into their work, making our clothes and complements. The accelerated pace in which we live makes it difficult for us to ask ourselves these questions about what and who we are supporting when we buy a piece of cloth.

Doing business should be synonymous with contributing something to our community, to society and to humanity in general. It should mean that men and women are treated fairly and equitably.Doing business should have nothing to do with gender discrimination, abuse of human dignity or exploitation of labor, child labor or of any kind. This is our commitment to society.

Q.3.  WHAT DOES FIRIRI MEAN AND WHAT DOES FIRIRI LOGO REPRESENTS?

Literally the Nepalese word firiri means “movement with the wind”, waving in the air. The movement of an object, material or immaterial (piece of cloth, flag, idea …) in the wind.

The logo of firiri represents the geometric shape that is repeated in different colors and shapes of traditional garments in Nepal, called Dhaka. It also represents the silhouette of the Himalayan mountains, and the nature, culture and tradition of Nepal. The turquoise color of our logo with white background represents the fusion Himalaya and the Mediterranean Sea.

Q.4.  WHAT IS MODA CON ALMA | FASHION WITH SOUL?

firiri – fashion with soul, is a sustainable fashion brand for women. Created in Barcelona and produced in Nepal. Ethical fashion made for unique women of free spirit.

IN Firiri WE believe in people, in love and the deepest respect towards all human beings and nature. And from this feeling and deep conviction our fashion with soul is born.

Each pieces of our clothes carries a beautiful story of the people who make our products putting their effort together with their hearts, minds and soul in their work to bring joy to the lives of our customers.

Q.5.  WHAT INSPIRES YOU AT THE TIME OF DESIGNING FIRIRICLOTHES AND ACCESORIES?

The firiri designs are original and exclusive creations that reflect an original, modern and relaxed style, with a special touch of sophistication andglow of glamour, perfect for the woman of free spirit.

Our exclusive designs are inspired by the fashion of the 70s with folk style, through maintaining in its clothing a sense of “firiri” movement, focusing on the love towards people, planet, nature, animals, flowers and landscapes.

The color palate used is intended to resemble the mother earth of those wonderful landscapes and brightness of clear, quiet and peaceful sky above the Himalayan silhouettes in Nepal; the sky and the Himalaya that just by looking at it, fills us with peace and tranquility.

Love for flora {plants} is transmitted through floral prints used, thus giving us a touch of color and love of wildlife through our abstract pattern that allows to take the wild side that every woman has.

Q.6.  WHERE ARE THE FIRIRI PRODUCTS PRODUCED?

We produce and always intend to produce our products in exclusively small MOQ in local factories and small workshops in Kathmandu and other surroundings in Nepal. Our intention has always been to give an opportunities for small factories and workshops in Nepal to grow. So that, they could be able to create an employment for Nepalese hardworking people, especially women. In one way or another, it is also an opportunity for us to introduce our wonderful yet ethical Nepalese goods in European market. Contribute something to Nepalese economy.

Q.7.  WHAT ARE THE DIFFICULTIES YOU FACE WORKING WITH FACTORIES, WORKSHOPS, PROFESSIONALS IN NEPAL?

It is important to understand that Nepal is developing country. We cannot compare these factories and professionals with Europeans. In develop countries almost everything is more advanced. They use new and modern technology to elaborate production. The machineries and adequate equipment in factories make production process a lot faster and easier.

Having said that, the attitude and behavior in terms of respecting the company’s guidelines, rules and regulations, its norms and values is equally important. This is what it lacks in factories, workshops and professionals in Nepal.

Professionals, employers and employees in factories and workshops in Nepal need to demonstrate at least some degree of seriousness at work. Especially when its comedowns to time keeping, meeting their client’s demand, dispatch and delivery on time, effective and regular communication and so on. Reliability is an issue too. We cannot rely on them very much.

The basic physical and organizational structures and facilities such as adequate buildings, roads, power supplies are fundamental needs for the operation of a society, businesses and enterprises. Therefore, the government certainly has a role to play to promote Nepalese textile industries by introducing policies on Infrastructure, encouraging small textile business and handloom industry for producing value added items.

Government needs to invest in introducing textile-oriented information technology, advance machineries and necessary equipment. It needs to invest in education, research, training andhuman resource development, providing financial back up for new startups and small businesses.

The government should also pay attention to implementing or putting law and order in place effectively and efficiently in relation to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); quality awareness, health and safely law, employment rights; lunch break, holidays, maternity leave, paternity leave, sick leave, decent minimum wage, and so on.

Q.7.  HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE LIVING AND SUSTAINABLE FASHION?

Sustainable fashion industry is growing slowly but surely. In its survival stage, it is important for these brands not to try to compete with low cost giants but focusing on their own niche market by offering their clients something different, unique, useful and respectful to the environment and the planet as a whole.

At the same time, it faces enormous challenges ahead. The market for decades has been dominated by low cost mass production giant who indeed have been manipulating the market share, the price, ignoring the fundamental labor rights and contaminating the environment. This puts small and individual brands in a position where it is extremely difficult to compete with.

Consumers are becoming more aware and ask for more information regarding the origin, materials, qualities and manufacturing process of clothing.Through firiri we want to have the opportunity to do something different, unique, fair and responsible for the people and the environment.

We want to empower women and share with all our customers and followers the responsibility to make our society better, safer and fairer place for all.
